Active Configurable and Stackable Interface surface mount
connector contains internal circuits that buffer and process
signals as they transit the connector. Applications for this
patent-pending device include an active interface between
electronic devices, including micro-electro-mechanical
systems (for example, optical mirror arrays), sensor arrays
(such as biological or chemical sensors), electronic
packages (multi-chip modules, application-specific
integrated circuits, field-programmable-gate-arrays,
system-on-chips, system in packages, etc), or any other
package requiring an electronic interface between devices,
circuit card assemblies, cable assemblies, flex harnesses,
etc. Extremely short connections, which can be provided in a
high-density environment, not only provide fast transit
times, but also offer reduced capacitive and inductive
