Non-metallic screws The PERPL series 7 line of non-metallic screws are made with PEEK polymer, a high performance thermoplastic. Designed to withstand the toughest environments, PERPL fasteners can outperform metal and other plastics in applications for a wide range of industries, including semiconductor, chemical processing, downhole, industrial machines, pollution control and electronics. Injection molding of the screws provides them higher levels of mechanical properties, as well as short lead times. They are resistant to a wide range of acids, bases, inorganics and solvents, even at elevated temperatures. 8511_407.e Floating fasteners. Self-clinching floating fasteners provide load-bearing threads in thin metal stock, and permit up to .030-in. adjustment for mating hole misalignment. Non-locking types AS (steel) and AC (stainless steel), and self-locking types LAS (steel) and LAC (stainless steel) are offered in thread sizes from #4-40 through 1/4-28, and M3 through M6, for sheet metal as thin as 0.040 in. 8511_408.e Miniature fasteners. This line of hardware includes screws, nuts, washers and inserts machined from brass, stainless, titanium and nickel-silver. They are offered in sizes from 0.010- to 0.250-in. dia., with thread counts from 40 to 400 TPI, in hex, round, flat and oval fillister head styles and in various lengths. 8511_409.e Multifunction vinyl treatment. Plastisol treated fasteners can be used in applications requiring sealing, insulating, cushioning or controlling noise and vibration. A recent assignment found it applied to the tips of set screws as a low-cost alternative to nylon tips or nylon set screws. Plastisol materials can be formulated for different characteristics, producing a soft foam or a dense hard solid which stays flexible, even at very low temperatures. 8511_410.e Hydraulics hardware. Slotted hex, castellated and jam nuts are available for use in hydraulic applications. Finished, slotted hex nuts are offered in grades 2 and 5 with UNC/UNF threads, for 1/4- through 3-in. dia. These are also offered in grade 8 for 1/2- to 3- in. dia.
