Tangless inserts
No mess
Tangless CoilThread inserts are completely FOD-free. There are no tangs to break off,
retrieve or lose. A line of electrical and hand-powered installation and removal tools
includes a radial-arm toolholder for vertical installation. Highly durable Hexatorq
torque-controlling hinges are designed for 30,000 cycles or more without failure.
Applications for the inserts include notebook computers, access panels, covers or
equipment guards, and medical or laboratory equipment. Kato Fastening Systems Inc,
Newport News, VA.

Milling cutters, inserts
Alloy steel
bodies
Carbide indexable tooling for milling, drilling, boring and turning features high
strength alloy steel bodies, maximum rigidity through increased cross-sections and have
high wear resistance. The 3000 series milling cutters includes coarse pitch cutters for
aluminum and other non-ferrous materials; cartridge-style facemills that are
micro-adjustable; and two insert sizes with corner radii from 0.015´´ to 0.250´´. Waukesha
Cutting Tools, Waukesha WI.

Cobalt-enriched insert
Aluminum Zirconia coating
SpectraTurn SV305, a grade engineered for light roughing to high-speed finishing of all
types of irons, is the latest addition to the SpectraTurn System of 10 grades and 13
chipbreakers. SV305 features a cobalt-enriched substrate for interrupted cuts with a
thick, wear-resistant, advanced alumina zirconia coating. The coating combination reduces
thermal cracking and edge build-up. Valenite Inc, Madison Heights, MI.
Power saws
Gripping addition
A split-front vise is used on DoAll production power saws to hold the stock on either
side of the blade to prevent vibration and the formation of a burr. Another reported
advantage involves trimming ends of long tubing. The split vise eliminates turning the
stock around to make the second cut. DoAll Co, Des Plaines, IL.

Boring tools
Stimulate production rates
Solid-carbide, helical, back-rake boring tools are designed to increase production
rates. The tools are suited for convenient use in jig boring machines and in applications
where chip flow is especially critical. The tools are available in right- and left-hand
versions and in shank diameters ranging from 1/8´´ to 1/2´´. Forty-six right-hand
tools with special sizes are also available. Micro 100 Inc, Los Angeles, CA.

Hybrid insert
Eight edges for 90-deg turning
QNMG Inserts have eight competitive edges for 90-deg shoulder turning. The manufacturer
has combined the design of two CNMG inserts to form a single, versatile insert. Rear
corner contact is eliminated, and the insert has eight cutting edges of 80 deg. The insert
can perform external longitudinal turning, external face turning, internal longitudinal
turning, and internal face turning. The depth of shoulder with angles over 92 deg is
unlimited in both directions. Iscar Metals Inc, Arlington, TX.

Coated inserts
Grade addition
Steel-cutting, coated inserts come with a new T7020 CVD-coated grade. The grade is
designed for medium- to high-speed, continuous and interrupted turning of steels and
stainless steels. The T7020 includes a multiple-layer composite coating applied over a
specially engineered tough, carbide substrate that offers improved resistance to fractures
and chipping. Toshiba Tungaloy America, Itasca, IL.

Adaptable cutting tools
Shipped in 72 hours
Thinbit inserts can be modified according to individual specifications. This includes
applications requiring face grooving with major diameters as small as 0.200´´, full or
corner radius, chamfering, chip breakers, cut-off angles, side or back clearance. Special
configurations can be provided on any Thinbit tool. Kaiser Tool Company Inc, Fort
Wayne, IN.

Turning inserts
Three geometries, grades
New turning inserts with K-Line geometries and 3000 series grades provide increased
produ ctivity and longer tool life in cast iron turning. The inserts are available in
three geometries and three grades. The K-line group is part of Easy Turning with CoroKey,
a tool selection concept that makes it easier to choose and use the best inserts for any
turning operation. Sandvik Coromant Co, Fair Lawn, NJ.

High-performance grade
Makes better inserts
Cemented carbide grade UE6005 is suited for medium- to high-speed continuous turning.
The grade features a coating of TiCN-A1203 instead of conventional grainy structures. Its
hard substrate and thick coating are designed for improved wear and deformation resistance
when machining steel, cast iron, ductile/nodular iron, and stainless steels. The material
is also designed to resist flank wear and cratering. It is available in various geometries
and in primary chipbreaker styles MA, SA, GH, and selected flat-top inserts. Mitsubishi
Materials USA Corp, Irvine, CA. http://www.mitsubishi-carbide.com
Bull-nose endmills
Toroid bull-nose endmills have a cutting geometry between a ballnose and standard flat
end mill. For roughing and semifinishing, the cutter is suited for a three-axis milling
mode. For finishing, the tool is used in three-axis machining modes or in simultaneous
five-axis milling. The tools are available in cutting diameters from 3/8´´ to 1 1/4´´
and are stocked in various tool coatings. The bull-nose tools cut at defined cutting
speeds, and there is no area on the toroid cutter's active cutting edge where the cutting
speed is zero, the manufacturer reports. Millstar LLC, Bloomfield, CT.
Generating head
Includes machining system
A rotary-actuated, low-profile, high-speed generating head is combined with a precision
generating-head machining system. The generating head and machining system combine boring,
turning, and facing for process quality and operation productivity. The generating heads
are available in diameters ranging from 7 1/2´´ to 24´´ with
dual slide feed strokes up to 5 3/4´´. Advanced Cutting Tool
Systems, Warren, MI.
