X-, Y-axis DROs
In surface grinders
A series of saddle-type surface grinders , the ACC-DXV line, include a Okamoto
Electronic Control with X- and Y-axis digital readouts. The DROs allow the operator to
rough and finish grind in one setup. The grinders are available in grinding capacities
ranging from 8创 x 20创 to 20创 x 40创. The grinders feature automatic wheelhead
retraction and automatic grinding capabilities for surface and plunge grinding; rough,
medium, and finish grind in cycle, preset spark-out passes; and automatic wheel dress
cycles with dress compensation. Okamato Corp., Buffalo Grove, IL.

DRO suite
Thirty models
Thirty models of digital readouts are available. They can use linear transducers from
4创 to 98 ft and can handle encoders up to 90,000 pulses. Standard features of the NV
DROs include from one to four axes, axis preset, a display-off mode, universal power
supply, bolt-hole calculation, inch or metric, absolute or incremental, part centering,
tool offsets, and resolutions of 0.001, 0.0005, 0.0002, 0.0001, and 0.000 05. DROs are
available for OEMs, such as the NV 300E, used with PLCs, with six outputs and four inputs
and the NV 300TS lathe DRO that controls the spindle speed on lathes. Fagor Automation
Corp, Elk Grove Village, IL.

DRO family
Magnetic scales
Sony digital readouts are suited for use on mills, lathes, grinders, EDM machines,
boring mills, and other machines. The DROs are designed to be unaffected by harsh
conditions in the shop. They use magnetic scales, which protect them from fluids, chips,
and dust. There are no glass scales to chip, break, and become unreadable from coolants
and oils. The readouts feature hold, recall, zero reset, data backup, self-diagnosis,
preset capability, midpoint calculation, absolute/incremental, datum point memory,
inch/metric, error check/fault alarm, linear error compensation, and delectable
resolutions. The DROs are offered with a three-year warranty. Zimmerman-McDonald
Machinery Inc, Bridgeton, MO.

Measurement musts
DROs, measurement scales
The Mikronel and Mikronel BASIC families include mill, lathe, and EDM versions of DROs
that range from one to four axes. They are guaranteed by the manufacturer to conform to
international standards. LM200 measurement scales are also available. EAE Electronics,
Istanbul, Turkey. email: 2dad@eae.com.tr

Adaptable DROs
Choose your own scale, display
Mitutoyo's DROs integrate the AT100 series linear scales with the K-series dedicated
counters to help foster accurate detection and display of axial displacements of machine
tools and measuring equipment. The DRO system can be configured to meet the user's needs,
such as turning, milling, or grinding. The user can choose a suitable combination of scale
unit and display unit. Scale units have various measuring-length ranges and display units
feature remote zero setting, switchable resolution, and multipurpose one-touch operation
keys. MTI Corp, Aurora, IL.

Mill-and-lathe DROs
Take your choice
A line of Topaz DROs are designed to increase manual machine productivity. The Topaz
Standard is a direct replacement for the Sapphire display. It is available in one, two, or
three axes and is designed to cost less than the company's DP7 line of DROs. It can be
used with either the company's Spherosyn or Microsyn scales. The Topaz Mill, designed for
milling, adds a Bolt Circle Calculator to the features offered by the Topaz Standard. The
Topaz Lathe, available in two axes, has all the features offered by the Topaz Standard,
with added Tool Offsets. Newall Electronics Inc, Columbus, OH.

Wizard DROs
Intelligent power supply
The Wizard series of DROs features intelligent power supply that automatically helps to
compensate for power fluctuations that range from 90 to 250 VAC. The interlinking keyboard
modules are designed to make upgrades easier, while the VFD displays are made for easier
readability. The DROs also have interactive display windows that prompt the operator with
messages. For milling, the DROs have a visual feedrate display. The interlinking keyboard
system can be upgraded. Anilam Inc, Miramar, FL. e-mail: anilam@anilam.com
